Choosing Your Right Hosting Plan

So.. You have your awesome new computer. You also have your great internet connection. Now, you are on your way to your next big step—making your own website.

Of course, when you make your own website (or websites, if you’re up to the challenge), it’s not enough that you know how to create the perfect online resource. You also have to make sure that you know what hosting plan you’re supposed to use. It depends on what type of website you’re going to create. It also depends on the cash you’re willing to dish out.

There are actually 3 types of web hosting services out there and each comes with its own advantages and disadvantages. We’ll be discussing those in a little bit.

So, let’s talk about the first type of web hosting service. This would be the Shared Web Hosting Service. Just like what its name suggests, this particular hosting service allows many websites to share one server which is then connected to the internet. Many would consider this as the most economical option as people share the overall expense to maintain the server.

There are several advantages to this type of hosting service. Since there are many of you who would pay for the cost of leasing the server, it is usually cheaper than the other services. It is usually also easier to use because the server is already preconfigured with popular options. The hosting company will also do most of the work with regard to maintenance of the servers and any security updates. For the downsides: Since you share the server with other people, if one site becomes slow or busy, it basically slows down or affects the other websites in the server.
The second type of web hosting service is the Virtual Private Servers or VPS. This type of service would still involve sharing a server with other websites, but there’s a special virtualization technology that segregates or partitions the server. Each partition would have its own operating system, thus functioning as an independent fully-dedicated server.

Now, this server also has its advantages and disadvantages. One pro with this type of service is that it allows you to take charge on what programs you want on your partition and also allows for usage of dedicated sources right within your server. Fewer websites also uses the server, so your website will have more resources to use. The downside is that you have the responsibility for server administration, like program installation and maintenance. They’re also more expensive than shared web hosting service.

The third type is the Dedicated Hosting Service. This type of hosting service allows a client to lease an entire server. This means that all the resources and programs in that server are at your disposal and no one else.
Although it sounds great to get a server all for your own, it also offers some pros and cons. One advantage is that you have full control over everything regarding your server; you can also configure the setup to meet your needs. The downside is that you have to have extensive technical knowledge since you’re responsible for managing and configuring the server. It is also more expensive since you don’t share the server with anyone else.

Do not get me wrong, I am a normal guy like you. I do not pretend to own a huge hosting company and I will not be able to promise you everything that they do. Yesterday for example, I bought a great running treadmill thanks to this article ( My point is, that I live, shop and enjoy life like every normal person. With me, you can be sure that you site will be hosted on a reliable private server that will never let you down.
