The Horde CVS tree is available to be browsed via the web. You can compare arbitrary versions of files with pretty colors, and it's all kinds of fun. It's also fairly useful for obtaining small updates or figuring out who did what or how long ago they did it. The Horde applications are written in PHP, a scripting language explicitly designed to be embedded in web pages.
