ModernBill, while powerful and full featured in many ways, is poorly designed. It's interface is difficult to use at best. Also, configuring your hosting options is amazingly time consuming. Setting up just a few basic options will take well over an hour.
Further, modernbill has virtually no support for templating. Doing any customization of the modernbill client interface requires in-depth re-programming of their .php scripts. They have implemented a new 'more powerful' version of their interace designer, which, oddly enough, does not implement all of the features of the old system, but the old system is deprecated, so use it at your own risk... Features as basic as a plan comparision chart, which existed in the old template scheme, are not in the new one...
But worst of all is their support. Trouble tickets logged with them take days to get a response (if indeed, you ever get a response), and asking for your money back? takes SIX WEEKS and requires that you MAIL them a form that states that you have destroyed the product from your servers. (If you ask me, refund my money before asking me to destroy anything)
Do yourself a favor and pass on this one.
We have been using ModernBill for over a year now, and it has worked great for our company. There is a rather steep learning curve, but it is an EXTREMELY powerful piece of software. It has every tool needed to do complete client management. It integrates with your server and domain name registrar via a very powerful API. I would recommend hiring someone to do the initial install and config/setup of this software. It shouldn't cost too much, and will save you time. ModernBill truly has what it takes to manage thousands of clients at one time. It also even includes a support desk! I would highly recommend it to anyone! We chose the leasing option which starts at $14.95/mo I believe. The support has greatly improved, and they have a 1 day response usually for most issues.
